Premium, responsive themes and templates for CMS Made Simple

Marquee

Marquee is a richly-featured theme which will enable you to set up a custom news or blog site in short order. It includes all scripting necessary for lazy-loading of articles, automatic optimization of images, and fully-responsive views. Search is performed inline via ajax.

The home page template features a slider which allows for images, locally-hosted videos, and YouTube videos to be intermixed. The slider is smart enough to pause while videos are playing (and resume when finished), and scales nicely to all screen sizes while utilizing Interchange to serve up smaller images for mobile devices on the fly.

In addition to multiple News module summary and detail templates, this theme includes several options for page templates, and a custom contact form for SmartForms which includes Abide validation. Navigation and Search templates are also included.

Instructions

TO INSTALL:

Back up your current web site installation (files & database) unless you're starting from scratch
Unzip the downloaded file to your computer
Install or upgrade to the latest version of CMS Made Simple as per the documentation
Install the modules CMSExtensions and SmartImage
Optional: if you'd like to use the supplied contact form, install the module SmartForms (and Captcha, if desired)
Go to Layout » Design Manager
- Click on the Designs tab, and choose Import Design
- Choose the design XML file (Marquee.xml) from the downloaded package, and click next
- Confirm and proceed

TO USE:

In Design Manager (DM), go to the Designs tab and set the imported design to default (optional)
Still in DM, go to the Templates tab and open up the MarqueePageSub template (or the one you think you'll use most frequently), set Default to 'yes' under the Advanced tab, and submit.
In Content Manager, switch your pages to use the new design and templates (hint: use the bulk action "set design & template" if you have lots of existing pages). You may also wish to clean up (delete) any existing designs and templates.
Set your Home page to use the MarqueePageHome template. The Content field here will mostly be ignored, but the first ~200 characters will be used for the meta description tag if you don't fill out the Description field. Edit the 'Number of articles to show in News Slider' field if you wish to show a different amount than the default 5.
Create or modify a page called News, ensuring it has the alias 'news' (if you wish to use a different alias, you will need to modify a few templates. Use Admin Search to search for {$detail_page='news'} and change them accordingly)
On your News page, go to the Options tab and choose 'MarqueePageNews' as the template, then check 'Disable WYSIWYG editor on this page'
Still on the News page, under the Main tab, copy and paste {include file='cms_template:MarqueeContentNews'} as the Content, and submit.
Go to Site Admin > Settings - News module
- Add any Categories you'd like to use
- Under the Options tab, set the Default page to use for details views as your News page and Submit
- Under the Field Definitions tab, add the following fields, exactly as spelled, case sensitive. If you are not going to use videos or tagging, you can omit those fields, but Image is required:
  - Image (Linked file, public)
  - Tags (Text Input, public)
  - Video (linked file, public)
  - Youtube (Text Input, public)
Under Content > News, add some News articles.
Create any other content pages you like. Pages with Home as their parent will appear in the navigation on the bar just above the footer, and top level pages will appear in the footer navigation.
If you are using SmartForms, import the MarqueeContact.smtfm into the module and set up the handlers and validators as per the module instructions. Use {SmartForms form="MarqueeContactSF"} where you would like the form to appear. If you install and configure the Catpcha module, the Captcha will be added to the form automatically (reCaptcha is recommended, you may need to adjust the template if you are using another library).
Add some news articles!
- Images should be at least 1200px wide. They will be resized automatically, and cropped for use in the slider and thumbnails.
- To use the tagging feature, simply enter a comma separated list of tags in the Tags field when creating/editing a News article. e.g. "popular,video,puppies" Do not include a space after the comma.
- For locally-hosted videos, upload the mp4 file in the Video field.
- For YouTube videos, enter the video ID (only) in the Youtube field.

Portage

With a full-screen design to welcome you, sticky navigation header, dynamic search results, and subtle logo animation, Portage is the perfect theme for your next premium project. Suitable for personal and small business sites right out of the box, all you need to do is add your content and images. For larger, commercial projects, the provided templates can be adapted for modules like LISE, Products, and many others — that's the power of Smarty and Foundation.

This theme includes multiple page templates for different column and sidebar configurations, News module templates (summary, sidebar summary, and detail), Navigator templates for header and footer navigation, ajax-powered search forms, and a Contact form using Abide validation. A generic template for the animated logo is also provided so you can easily change or remove it.

Install or upgrade to the latest version of CMS Made Simple as per the documentation
Install the modules CMSExt and SmartImage via Module Manager
Optional: If you'd like to use the included contact form, perform the following modules via Module Manager:
- Install FormBuilder, also in Module Manager
- Go to FormBuilder and import the included Contact form (Contact_Form__Abide.xml)
- Configure the form's "send to" disposition to use your contact and server settings
- customize the form as required
Log in to the backend of your CMSMS install and go to Layout » Design Manager
Click on the Designs tab, and choose Import Design
Choose the design XML file (Portage.xml) from the downloaded package, and click next
Confirm and proceed

To use:

In Design Manager (DM), go to the Designs tab and set the imported design to default (optional)
Still in DM, go to the Templates tab and open up the portage_sidebar template (or the one you think you'll use most frequently), set Default to 'yes' under the Advanced tab, and submit. Do the same for the two portage_news_ templates, and the portage_topnav template.
In Content Manager, switch your pages to use the new design and templates (hint: use the bulk action "set design & template" if you have lots of existing pages). You may also wish to clean up (delete) any existing designs and templates.
If you'd like to use images in the News module like in the demo, add a file or linked file field definition in the News module settings.

To customize:

Many of the customizable areas are available when editing pages in the Content Manager. Some will only be available for certain templates (e.g. the 'home' template may have different options than the 'sidebar' template).

For more advanced customization, examine the master template and css file, and edit as required.

B&B Pro

Although a Bed & Breakfast theme is used for the demo, this template would be suitable for many small business sites. It features a clean design with simple navigation, and requires no programming experience to install. Some basic HTML and CSS knowledge will be helpful to fully customize it to your needs, but the templates include comments to get you started.

This professional version includes three page templates, News module templates (summary and detail), Navigator templates for header and footer navigation, a fully responsive Gallery template with Lightbox, and a Contact form using Abide validation. The home page offers the choice of a slider or static image (optimized for mobile with the Interchange plugin). Version 1.2 now includes a responsive modal (popup), full-width header images auto-sized with SmartImage, and is updated for Foundation 6.5.

Under the options tab of the Gallery module, change "Resize images to the following maximum size during upload" to 1800 x 1800

This professional version includes three page templates, News module templates (summary and detail), and a Navigator template for header and optional footer navigation, as well as all scripts preconfigured and automated for lazy-loading and smooth scrolling. It also combines the power of SmartImage and Foundation's Interchange plugin to automatically optimize images for different devices sizes.
